YES. TeleCBT is in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). TeleCBT counselors are experienced healthcare professionals registered/licensed with their provincial regulatory body and adhere to their privacy requirements. We provide two services – private therapy and OHIP covered therapy.

Private Therapy: One hour video or talk counseling is $175.00 with a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist.  Fifty minutes video or talk counseling is $240.00 with a Psychologist.

OHIP covered Therapy: Appointments with doctors are covered by OHIP (missed appointments and appointments that are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will have a fee of $110).

TeleCBT accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

YES, many insurance companies do cover the costs of TeleCBT. Please contact your insurance company to verify coverage. It is not the responsibility of your counselor to verify coverage.

YES.  In many cases, online CBT is at least as effective as face-to-face CBT. It can be even more effective, since it is more convenient, and it does not require travel time. In addition, it is much more accessible for people with mobility difficulties or living in remote areas.

OHIP patients will be required to attend one in person appointment with their doctor.

For private therapy, simply click  Book Now and choose an appointment time which works for you.  You will receive an email confirming your appointment, and with instructions to register your account.

We recommend that you download the TeleCBT desktop or smartphone app. Apps can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play by searching “TeleCBT” and can be used on any iOS or Android device.

You must create an account on a web browser to get started. To do so, please click Visit your Account in any of the e-mails you have received and follow the prompts on screen. Up to 10min before your scheduled appointment, you will be prompted to click “Join Call.”

If your referral was made by your family doctor, our centralized intake will match you with one of our therapist. If you would like to make a self-referral, you are welcome to choose your own therapists.

Yes, absolutely. Continuity is very important! Once you have been assigned a therapist, you will work together to develop and execute a treatment plan.

If you have any concerns about your counselor, we recommend that you first bring this up with your counselor. If you do not feel comfortable speaking to your counselor about your concerns, or if you have decided you would definitely want a switch, then email info@telecbt.ca. We will then work with you to find a counselor who will better suit your needs.

TeleCBT provides video, talk and chat counseling. If you choose video counseling, you will require a computer or mobile device with a webcam. TeleCBT is available for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. Talk counseling is available on any phone or mobile device.

Yes, our administrative staff will be able to walk you through the set up process. Once you download our app or install the software on your desktop, it is very easy to log back in to meet with your therapist.

To access our OHIP covered therapy – we now require patients to have a referral faxed to us from their family doctor. The referral form can be found on our homepage in the orange banner.

Yes – some of our doctors are able to see patients under 18 years old.

No.  Your counselor will not prescribe medication. Please discuss any medication requirements with your family physician.

Please have your family doctor fill out a referral package on your behalf and have them fax it to us directly. Referral Form

There are important exceptions to confidentiality, conditions under which information may be
released with or without your consent. These exceptions are as follows:

1. If I believe that you may be a danger to yourself or others

2. If you provide information that gives me reason to believe that a child is being abused, has
been abused, or is at risk of being abused either physically or sexually. By law such information
must be reported to the Children’s Aid Society

3. If you are involved in court proceedings, the court could subpoena your records, in which case
I would be required to provide them.

4. If you were to tell me that had been sexually abused by a regulated health professional, under
Bill 100 (1993), all regulated health professionals must report to the appropriate regulatory body,
the sexual abuse of a patient or client by another health professional.

5. If there is a concern about your fitness to drive.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Late cancelations (less
than 48 hours) or no-shows are charged at $110.00.
